How to Play Among Us

You play rounds on a spaceship map, either as a crewmate or the impostor. As a crewmate you walk the ship completing mini-tasks — wires, downloads, card swipes — while keeping one eye on everyone else. As the impostor you fake tasks, isolate crewmates, and try not to get voted out.

  • Move: W A S D or arrow keys
  • Interact: E or Space at task stations, doors and buttons
  • Use / Vent (impostor): E Q or Space depending on the port
  • Win as crew: finish every task, or vote out the impostor
  • Win as impostor: thin the crew down before the task bar fills, without being caught

The browser port in the games list is single-player against bots — the deduction is simplified, but the tasks, vents and backstabbing are all there.

Tips & Strategy

As a crewmate

  • Loop tasks, don't wander. Plan a route: electrical → admin → medbay → weapons. Less travel means a fuller task bar before anything can go wrong.
  • Watch the task bar. If it doesn't move while someone "does a task," that person is faking — your strongest single tell.
  • Travel in twos. A buddy system makes the impostor's job nearly impossible; a lone crewmate is free prey.

As the impostor

  • Kill in corners, not corridors. Electrical and the far rooms are classic spots; never strike where a second crewmate can see it happen.
  • Fake tasks with timing. Stand at a station about as long as it really takes. Rushing off after two seconds is louder than any confession.
  • Vent only to escape. Vents are for disappearing after a kill, not for commuting — being seen entering one ends the round on the spot.
